About the Whitemud Equine Learning Centre
The Whitemud Equine Learning Centre (WECLA) is nestled in the crest of a hill, as it has been for nearly 50 years, with a million-dollar view of Edmonton’s river valley. The Centre has been recognized by the River Valley Alliance as a site for development to enhance public enjoyment of the river valley. On March 12, 1991, City Council approved equestrian activities in Edmonton, including the existence of the Whitemud Equine Learning Centre, as important and valuable recreation opportunities for Edmontonians.
The Whitemud Equine Learning Centre is a place where people come to find peace and tranquility around horses in a superb natural setting; where riders and horse lovers can build on their physical and personal skills. It is a place where people get healthy and where they can escape from the hectic pace of city life.
No other Canadian city can claim to have an equine facility with 48 acres of unspoiled beauty at its heart; a facility that welcomes everyone to come in, take part, and enjoy the unmatched beauty of the setting and recreational opportunities.
Internationally known competitors Gail Greenough and Mark Laskin spent some of their early days at the Whitemud Equine Learning Centre and went on to achieve greatness in their respective disciplines.
The central location of the this facility is perfect to provide access to local equine champions to house their horses and showcase their disciplines.
